MYTHS

  • If women on their periods go near plants, the plants will die.

  • Eating curd, tamarin or pickles during menstruation can disturb the menstrual flow.

  • One shouldn't practice physical activities during menstruation.

  • An irregular cycle is indicative of infertility.

  • Menstrual cramps are a warning sign of infertility.

  • It is possible to suppress your period.

  • If a girl does not have her period at age 14, it isn’t normal.

  • Women shouldn't have a bath when on their period.

FACTS

  • Plant's don't discriminate! They thrive on proper care and nutrition, regardless of who provides it.

  • The food a woman eats has no effect on her menstrual cycle.

  • Interestingly, physical stimulation can be beneficial during menstruation as it can reduce pain and also mitigate the effects of premenstrual syndrome.

  • Many women have irregular menstrual cycles. This can make it difficult to calculate the time of ovulation, but does not necessarily indicate a fertility problem.

  • Menstrual pain is caused by uterine contractions and in most cases is completely normal.

  • There are many reasons why women prefer not to menstruate and there are ways to suppress it. For instance, continuous use of birth control pills is a frequently used method.

  • Menstruation usually starts between the ages of 10 and 14. However, some girls may get their period earlier or later.

  • Hot water is actually helpful in relieving muscle tension and menstrual cramps.
