ABOUT US

We are a non-profit trust dedicated to helping street dogs. The trust was set up in 1985 and is registered as a charitable trust under the Bombay Public Trusts Act, 1950

We are recognised by the Animal Welfare Board of India (Ministry of Environment and Forests, Government of India)

Since 1989 we have been carrying out a mass sterilisation programme for street dogs, following the recommendations of the World Health Organisation on rabies eradication and dog population control. We also conduct an on-site first aid and vaccination programme, education and awareness programme and put up abandoned pets and pariahs for adoption.

  • "Practical activism" - helping animals through direct action. All our projects are strictly grassroots and hands-on.

  • Moderation, not extremism. Our aim is harmonious co-existence between humans and street dogs. We do not believe one should benefit at the expense of the other. We believe the best way to protect street dogs is to make them as inconspicuous as possible and to reduce their nuisance value.

  • Providing realistic, workable solutions to street dog-related problems.

  • Maximising public involvement. We try to make the largest number of people as active as possible.

  • A strict no-kill policy.

  • Raising animal healthcare standards.
